Welcome to Alexandra Hagerty Women’s Maritime Foundation

Alexandra Hagerty Women’s Maritime Foundation is a nationwide scholarship program, aimed at providing scholarships and education for the advancement of women and minorities in the maritime sector, specifically for those pursuing unlimited tonnage engineering and mate licenses.

Alexandra Hagerty’s Foundation is a recently established non-profit organization. We recognized a lack of scholarships for women in maritime academia. We offer scholarships to American women interested in becoming Merchant Mariners.

According to BIMCO, there are 60,000 commercial vessels worldwide, women make up less than 1 percent of deck and engine officer positions worldwide.
